Core Integrated Group, the specialist provider of mechanical and electrical maintenance and building services, has appointed Tom Carter as Senior Project Manager, a newly created role leading mechanical works and turnkey projects within its Core Maintenance Services division.

The role reflects the growing volume of project work Core now carries out in addition to its planned preventative maintenance and reactive services. It combines project management with hands-on engineering expertise to provide continuity from initial diagnosis through to completion.

Tom is a qualified domestic and commercial gas engineer with 12 years’ experience spanning plumbing, heating and mechanical services, from boiler installations to district heating systems. He specialises in plant room installations, including mechanical plant and associated pipework, and has a strong background in estimating and tendering.

At Core, he will oversee projects, coordinate engineers and attend site himself to find faults, carry out repairs to pumps, boilers and pipework and develop remedial plans following mechanical plant failures.

Steve Braddick, Managing Director of Core Integrated Group, said, “We created this role because we didn’t want to choose between a project manager and an engineer. Tom brings the technical expertise and hands-on experience to do both, which is exactly what we need as our mechanical project work continues to grow.

“For clients, it means one person taking ownership from initial diagnosis through to completion, with fewer handovers and clearer communication. For our engineers, it means having an experienced colleague on site to work alongside and learn from.”

Tom Carter, Senior Project Manager at Core Integrated Group, said, “What appealed to me about Core is that this role allows me to combine project management with hands-on engineering. I enjoy being on site, understanding how the plant works and finding practical solutions to problems. Being able to diagnose an issue, plan the remedy and see the job through to completion is what makes the role particularly rewarding.”

Editorial insight

Appointments of this nature are a routine part of business growth for specialist service providers. The creation of a new senior project manager role at Core Integrated Group points to an increase in project-based work within its maintenance division, suggesting a practical response to demand for more comprehensive, end-to-end delivery on mechanical projects.

For clients and partners, the move may offer clearer lines of responsibility and improved continuity on complex jobs, particularly where technical expertise is critical from early diagnosis through to completion. While this development is primarily of operational significance within Core, it may be of interest to those tracking personnel changes or evolving service models in building services and facilities management sectors.
