A growing technology company is targeting expansion into the North West of England and Shropshire as businesses increasingly turn to external specialists for cyber security, cloud solutions and managed IT support.

The tecdesk is celebrating its first anniversary after securing a growing client base and responding to demand for more proactive, integrated technology services.

Based in North Wales, the company was established by directors Karen Farrell, Brad Farrell and IT specialist Luke Murray to help organisations strengthen their digital infrastructure, protect critical systems and navigate an increasingly complex technological landscape. Its services include managed IT support, cyber security, Microsoft 365, cloud computing, connectivity, data backup and disaster recovery, alongside specialist consultancy and technical support.

Operating from Security House in Northop, Flintshire, The tecdesk is now looking to build on its early success by expanding its reach across Cheshire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Shropshire, as well as strengthening its presence in North Wales.

Luke said: “We wanted to take the values and customer service that have been tried and tested over many years at CPS and bring that same approach to Managed IT Support.

“The tecdesk is its own business and you certainly don’t have to be a CPS customer to work with us, but across the group we share the same focus on trust, relationships and looking after people.

“It’s been a really positive first year. We’ve seen existing relationships develop and welcomed completely new clients, which is exactly what we hoped would happen.”

The company’s emergence reflects the growing importance of digital resilience, with businesses increasingly dependent on cloud-based platforms, remote access, connected devices and secure networks to maintain day-to-day operations. As cyber threats evolve and organisations adopt more sophisticated systems, The tecdesk is positioning itself as a technology partner capable of managing everything from everyday IT requirements to longer-term infrastructure and security strategies.

The business operates independently within the wider Crime Prevention Services (CPS) group, a long-established provider of fire and security solutions. The increasing convergence of physical security, network infrastructure and digital technology was a key factor behind its launch.

Brad said: “There was a clear gap and demand for this service. Security and IT increasingly overlap, so The tecdesk was a natural next step.

“Many long-standing CPS customers are now coming on board because they want that same trusted relationship on the IT side, but The tecdesk is also building its own customer base and identity.

“We can provide a complete managed service or sit alongside an existing IT team. It’s about giving businesses the support they actually need.”

The tecdesk works with organisations requiring fully outsourced IT management, as well as those seeking additional technical expertise to complement their internal resources. Its approach centres on identifying potential issues before they disrupt operations, improving system reliability and helping businesses make informed decisions about technology investment. With more companies relying on digital platforms to communicate, collaborate and store sensitive information, the directors believe accessible technical expertise and robust cyber security will remain critical to business growth.

Karen said making technology more accessible, without compromising on security or performance, had been central to the company’s development.

“Technology is moving incredibly quickly and not everyone feels confident managing it,” she said.

“Businesses are accessing systems and critical information remotely, so they need to know the infrastructure behind that is secure, reliable and supported.

“The tecdesk is proactive rather than reactive. We take away the jargon and complexity and give customers peace of mind because, ultimately, people still want to deal with people.”

As it enters its second year, The tecdesk is focused on developing new commercial relationships, broadening its regional footprint and supporting businesses looking to modernise their IT infrastructure while reducing operational risks.

Editorial insight

As regional businesses continue to adapt to increased digital demands and heightened security risks, the move by this North Wales-based technology firm to expand into the North West of England and Shropshire reflects a practical response to market needs for external IT expertise. The company’s growth plans come at a time when many organisations are seeking more proactive support to manage the complexities of cloud computing, cyber security, and integrated IT systems.

This development will be of particular interest to SMEs and organisations in the targeted regions looking to strengthen their digital infrastructure without the overhead of large in-house IT teams. As dependence on remote access and cloud platforms grows, the availability of managed services and technical consultancy is likely to remain a priority for businesses aiming to reduce operational risks and maintain continuity.
