Terrys Fabrics Channels 1970s Icons in New ANTE Décor Collection

At a glance

British homeware retailer Terrys Fabrics has launched the ANTE Décor Retro Collection, featuring 1970s-inspired fabrics named after icons Mercury, Bowie, and Elton. The collection includes bold patterns and colours available for curtains, blinds, and fabrics, aiming to bring vibrant retro style into modern homes at affordable prices. This launch offers consumers a way to experiment with expressive interior design without high costs.

British homeware retailer Terrys Fabrics has turned up the volume on nostalgia with the launch of an exclusive new fabric collection that brings bold 1970s style crashing into the modern home. The Retro Collection by ANTE Décor is unapologetically expressive. Inspired by three British icons of the 1970s, the collection channels the decade’s rebellious spirit through punchy colour, strong geometrics and statement graphics designed to make interiors impossible to ignore. Featuring 15 fabrics across three designs - Mercury, Bowie and Elton - the collection is available across made-to-measure curtains, roman blinds and fabric.

Gareth Coxall, Creative Director for Terrys Fabrics, said: “The Retro Collection is all about bringing character back into the home. These are fabrics that are designed to be noticed and the bold patterns, punchy colours and playful references to the 1970s can completely change the mood of a room.

“What makes the collection particularly exciting is that statement design doesn’t have to come with a statement price tag. We wanted to make it easy for people to experiment with something bolder and more expressive, whether that’s through curtains, blinds or cushions, and bring a real sense of vibrancy into their homes without spending a fortune.

“Retro interiors should feel fun rather than intimidating, and this collection gives people an affordable way to embrace colour, pattern and a little bit of seventies showmanship.”

Bowie is the collection’s unabashed showstopper. Featuring an oversized retro daisy motif, the bold, graphic design has all the confidence of its namesake. Playful and packed with personality, Bowie is designed to turn curtains or blinds into a focal point, bringing a hit of unmistakable 1970s flower power into contemporary interiors.

Elton takes a more structured approach to retro style. Its repeating horizontal geometric pattern creates a strong sense of rhythm, while crisp lines and punchy colour give the design a distinctly graphic edge. Bold without becoming overpowering, it is an easy way to introduce pattern and personality to a room while retaining a smart, considered feel.

Mercury is the most understated of the three, with flowing oval forms inspired by the softer, organic curves synonymous with 1970s design. Sitting somewhere between a pattern and a semi-plain, it adds movement and subtle retro character without dominating a space - making it an ideal choice for anyone who wants to embrace the look in a quieter way.

The new ANTE Décor Retro 2 Collection from Terrys Fabrics is available now, with prices starting at £12.99.

Editorial insight

Terrys Fabrics’ latest launch taps into a wider resurgence of interest in retro interiors, as consumers increasingly look to past decades for inspiration in home décor. The decision to focus on 1970s British icons and bold, expressive design comes at a time when nostalgia-driven trends are visible across both fashion and interiors, with retailers seeking to offer accessible ways for customers to experiment with colour and pattern.

For high street homeware brands, standing out in a crowded market often means finding distinctive themes that resonate with customers’ desire for individuality and self-expression. By offering a playful, affordable take on statement fabrics, Terrys Fabrics positions itself to attract style-conscious shoppers interested in updating their spaces without a significant outlay. The collection’s availability in made-to-measure products also reflects ongoing demand for personalisation in home furnishings.
