Tunley Environmental Launches VerdaMetric Sustainability Intelligence Software

At a glance

Tunley Environmental has launched VerdaMetric, a new platform to help organisations manage and utilise carbon and sustainability data more effectively. The software addresses common issues such as scattered data across multiple sources, allowing for better tracking of emissions and future planning. This is significant as it aims to streamline sustainability efforts, making data management easier and more accurate for organisations.

New platform designed to simplify carbon and sustainability data management, reporting and future planning   Tunley Environmental has launched VerdaMetric, a new sustainability intelligence platform designed to help organisations collect, organise, manage and use carbon and sustainability data more effectively.   Developed in response to the recurring challenges Tunley sees when supporting organisations with carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, verification and environmental strategy, VerdaMetric brings data, calculations, evidence, reporting activity and future planning together in one platform.   The software is designed to address a common issue for sustainability teams: information is often spread across spreadsheets, inboxes, departments, sites and reporting periods, leaving teams to manually bring data together, identify gaps and confirm which information is correct.   VerdaMetric allows organisations to upload and organise existing information, track Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, monitor data completeness, maintain clear audit trails, review performance over time and use targets, roadmaps and financial insight to support future planning.   Key functionality includes bulk uploads, data-completeness tracking and detailed records of how sustainability information has been reviewed and changed. These features have been developed around the problems Tunley Environmental regularly encounters when working with client sustainability data.   Dr William Beer, Founder and CEO of Tunley Environmental, said:   “For years, we’ve worked with organisations on carbon accounting, sustainability reporting and environmental strategy, and the one problem comes up again and again is that the data is always very messy.   “We’ve used other sustainability platforms ourselves. Some were effective at certain things, some less so, but none really solved all of the real challenges we were seeing with our clients. So, we decided to build our own!   “It was built on the idea that sustainability software should make the work easier, not create another layer of problems for its users.”   VerdaMetric has also been designed to support sustainability management beyond annual reporting. Organisations can maintain information throughout the year, monitor progress and use their data to inform future sustainability strategy.   The software draws on Tunley Environmental’s scientific and consultancy experience, including carbon accounting, sustainability reporting, verification and strategy. This means the platform has been developed around real sustainability requirements rather than purely technical workflows.   The platform is suitable for existing and previous Tunley clients that want to maintain data and track progress between consultancy projects, as well as organisations that have not previously worked with Tunley and are looking for a structured way to manage sustainability information internally.   Dr Beer added:   “We built VerdaMetric because we genuinely thought there had to be a better way to manage this stuff. Now we’re looking forward to showing people what we’ve built!”   Smart sustainability, simplified.   VerdaMetric is powered by Tunley Environmental.   Read the full CEO announcement Explore VerdaMetric Book a tailored demo

Editorial insight

As organisations face increasing pressure to report on carbon emissions and broader sustainability metrics, the need for robust, user-friendly data management tools has become more pronounced. The introduction of new platforms in this space is partly driven by evolving regulatory demands and the growing expectation for transparent environmental reporting from stakeholders including investors, customers and regulators.

For many sustainability teams, the practical challenge remains the consolidation and verification of disparate data sources, often scattered across departments and systems. Solutions that streamline these processes can offer clear operational benefits, particularly for organisations seeking to improve audit readiness and strategic planning in a rapidly changing compliance environment.
